Supplemental Instruction

We talked about supplemental instruction in the Intro; it's just another resource to help you learn. We'll cover some different types your teachers will be using.

Canvas: this is a supplemental instruction compared to being in class at a set time. You can learn anywhere, anytime. We talk more about Canvas later in the Navigating Canvas section.

Cengage: This website pretty much houses a ton of virtual books that your teachers may use. Your teacher will let you know if it's okay to only use the virtual book. If it is, then the choice is up to you. A lot of people prefer to have the physical book to flip through, write comments/questions on, and it is bigger. Cengage does let you highlight text, make notes, and the virtual book is cheaper than its physical copy. The virtual copy is a lot lighter to carry too!

CourseCompass: This is a class support website, separate from Canvas. MyMath Lab, MyIT Lab, Mastering Astronomy, and many others are supported by this website. Most classes will have an online book available, but this will come down to your teachers rules, and your preferences. Usually, there are additional learning plans and homework to be submitted.

Writing Center: If you would like to get in-person help with a writing assignment, you can go to the Writing Center located at the Southern & Dobson campus in building LB 11.

Additional Tutoring Options: You can always use the Online Tutoring, or visit the Learning Enhancement Center at either the Southern & Dobson campus, also in LB 11; or, at the Red Mountain campus in the Desert Willow building, first floor.
