Have Your Dean Evaluate You for YEAR 2 Spring
You are encouraged to meet with your Chair as often as you need to build a peer support system. They're here to help!
Schedule an Evaluation
Your Dean will request that you provide a selection of possible evaluation times and request a time as their schedule allows.
Tip: Request your times as early as possible, even if the evaluation will be late in the semester, especially if you prefer to choose the lesson they will evaluate.
If you are teaching faculty, your Dean should observe a class session (modality of your choice, as schedules allow). If you are service or reassigned faculty, you can have your Dean evaluate any primary work activity. That might be a workshop or one-time lesson, but it might be a consultation, project, curated collection, strategic programming, curriculum development, etc. It can be a regularly scheduled course session if you are also teaching.
*Mentors, Chairs, and Deans do not have to observe/evaluate the same content.
Share Files
Best Practice: Leave the document as a Google Doc for easiest sharing.
Complete the Evaluation
NOVEMBER 10 is the deadline to complete Fall Observations and Evaluations.
Post-Evaluation Reflection
You may wish to meet with your dean again to discuss their feedback, though it is not required. Remember that their feedback is part of the basis for your IDP reflection. Your Dean will sign the evaluation (not a PIN number-style electronic signature) and send you a final copy as a .pdf by NOVEMBER 18.
Best Practice: Take this opportunity to update your Chair on the projects you are involved with!
Best Practice: Add to your IDP as you go! Remember to store this observation file in an 'IDP Materials' folder; you will upload the entire folder contents to your IDP later.
