Have Your Mentor(s) Observe You for YEAR 2 Spring
Meet with your mentor(s) as often as you need to build a peer support system. They're here to help!
Schedule an Observation
If you are teaching faculty, your mentor(s) should observe a class session (modality of your choice). If you are service or reassigned faculty, you can have your mentor(s) observe any primary work activity. That might be a workshop or one-time lesson, but it might be a consultation, project, curated collection, strategic programming, curriculum development, etc. It can be a regularly scheduled course session if you are also teaching. (In Years 4 & 5, your mentor can observe you in a leadership role.)
*If you have more than one mentor, they can observe different things if you choose.
Share Files
Best Practice: Leave the document as a Google Doc for easiest sharing. You want to be the owner of this file for later use!
Best Practice: Pre-select the Areas of Observation or Critical Teaching Behaviors/Strategies that you most want feedback on. You and your mentor should work together to determine any specific things you want them to observe or if you prefer general feedback in an area.
Complete the Observation(s)
MARCH 10 is the deadline to complete Spring Observations and Evaluations.
Post-Observation Discussion
Meet with your mentor(s) again to discuss how things went. Remember that your mentor's feedback is the basis for your IDP reflection. Your mentor will also review your IDP and help you organize or revise it.
Best Practice: Add to your IDP as you go! Remember to store this observation file in an 'IDP Materials' folder; you will upload the entire folder contents to your IDP later.
Submit:
Once you have completed the observation and received feedback from your mentor, submit:
